I was given the opportunity to review the ChildUp Teach Your Child to Count Math & Logic Game Cards and as a former teacher I have to tell you I was impressed. These were perfect to review with my 4 year old who is in preschool and currently learning her numbers 1-20. There are so many activities you can do with these cards that we’ve barely touched the surface with them.
I was given the Teach Your Child to Count to 10 – Math and Logic 1 and the Teach Your Child to Count to 20 – Math and Logic 2 sets. Each set comes with 16 Parent’s Cards presenting the 1st and 2nd parts of the ChildUp Early Learning Method, with practical early learning and parenting advice. They also include 48 Child’s Cards to learn to count from 1 to 10 and 10 to 20 while discovering four different series of 10 popular animals. I was really impressed with not only the quality of the cards and even the boxes, but more importantly the vibrant colors, large numbers and adorable animal pictures.
Each set of cards comes with 4 different 0-10 or 10-20 animal sets that include a card to introduce all the animals in each set. This makes it so you can discuss the animals in addition to the numbers to make it more fun and interesting. As you can see in the images above, the cards also progress in basic arithmetic skills so you can also incorporate addition and subtraction as well as categorizing, sorting and comparing. They are not your typical number flash cards by any means.
My daughter enjoys using the cards and they really keep her interest. I love how they include parent activity cards to give you ideas of how to use the cards and discuss basic number concepts as well as the animal facts. We will be having a lot of fun with these for months and likely even years to come as we get into addition and subtraction. Of course I’ll be using them with my two year old soon also. She doesn’t seem to be quite ready for learning numbers but she did enjoy holding the cards and discussing the animals. So we will get plenty of use with these with both children.
