What to do with an Old Crib… 15 Great Ideas for Repurposing Baby Cribs!

by Michelle on March 25, 2012

Now that drop-side cribs have been outlawed and you can’t sell them anymore, what do you do with that old crib?  Or maybe you don’t have a drop-side but you just want to keep your crib for sentimental reasons after your baby grows out of it.  Whatever the case may be, I’ve come across quite a few creative ideas for repurposing an old crib.  It sparked me to research further to see what people were turning old baby cribs into and I found a round up of 15 + ideas to share with you.

So, how about a bench?  See how it was created HERE at Cassandra Design!

I love how this chair turned out!  See how it was done HERE on Junkblossoms.com.

Front porch daybed anybody?  Check it out HERE.

How about this very popular on Pinterest blackboard desk?  What a great idea if you ask me.  Find out how they made it HERE.

Or the very creative chalkboard easel.  So much fun for the kiddos!  Get the full tutorial HERE at The Red Kitchen.

In keeping with the chalkboards, HERE you will see where they made a hanging set.  Love it!

Not into chalk?  The Frosted Gardener shows you how to turn a crib into a magnet board HERE.

Here is one of my favorites.  From curbside crib, to subway art, to jewelry organizer.  Check out how she did it HERE at Infarrantly Creative.

Originally seen on Country Home, Curbly shows you what you need to turn an old crib spring into an officer organizer.  Not sure if I like it, but definitely creative.

Blue Cricket Design shows you how she turned a crib side into a magazine rack HERE.  Better yet, it only cost her $2.

Similarly, you can use the crib sides as craft fair displays.  One Shabby Chick shows you HERE.

Or use one as a stuffed animal display as shown HERE.

How about painting a side red and hanging your Christmas cards from it?  That’s what Cassandra Design did HERE.

Check out My Repurposed Life HERE for a few more ideas including this plate rack.  Some people are so creative!

Last but not least, HERE is a post that shows you 11 ways to recycle and reuse baby cribs.  It all goes back to being creative.

Just for fun, I had to include this changing table turned drink cart.  You can check it out HERE on BHG.com.

So what would you do with an old crib or nursery furniture?  Would you repurpose it into something fun and creative like above or just get rid of it?  Let me know in the comments below.

Earn $5 Amazon Codes Easily with Swagucks!

by Michelle on January 31, 2012

How to Earn Swag BucksNow that Amazon has increased the prices on diapers, Swagbucks is a great way to earn Amazon gift codes that can be used towards your diaper purchases!  When you register you earn 30 Swag Bucks right off the bat!  Once registered, earning more is pretty easy.  You can earn by searching the web (easiest), taking surveys, playing games, buying daily deals, watching videos, shopping online and printing and using coupons.  Then use your Swag Bucks to redeem gift cards, electronics, mp3s and more.

Earning the $5 Amazon code takes 450 Swag Bucks.  I earn at least 1 a month just from searching and completing daily polls but you could easily earn faster with a few referrals and completing some of the other activities.  It really is easy free money!

Here are some tips to help you earn more…

  • Vote in the Daily Swagbucks Poll for 1 easy extra Swag Buck every day!

  • Install the Swagbucks Toolbar.  It puts the search box in front of you on every web page.  Plus you’ll earn a Buck every time you newly open your browser.
  • Use the Swagbucks search engine for all your internet searches!  You only need to do 2-3 searches to earn anywhere from 6-12 Swag Bucks per search on average.  You can even search places you are already going just to earn.
  • Watch Swagbucks TV to earn an easy 3 Swag Bucks for watching 10 short videos that you choose.  You can have these playing in the background while you are doing other things on the computer.
  • Invite your friends to join.  When they search and win you win too!
  • Use Swagbucks on Fridays when it’s Mega Swag Bucks Friday and you can win higher amounts for searches.

  • Play Swag Bucks Games!  I’m not a big online game player, but I heard you can win a lot of Swag Bucks this way if you are a game enthusiast.
  • Follow the Swagbucks blog, Twitter page (use Twitter hashtag #Swagbucks in tweets and you could be randomly chosen to win 100 Bucks) and Facebook page for periodic special Swag Buck codes and even good search terms to use for big Bucks.

For more, less easy ways to earn, you could perform tasks, complete offers, take trusted surveys, print and use coupons (must use the coupons to earn the Bucks, not just print and they may also take up to 12 weeks to credit you), trade in old cell phones or purchase Groupons or other daily deals for Bucks. There are plenty of ways to earn!  So sign up HERE and get your 30 Bucks to start you off on your way to earning those Amazon gift codes or whatever else you want!
