Country Crock Vegetable Shopping Adventure and Giveaway!

by Michelle on November 18, 2011

Country Crock Shopping Adventure and GiveawayDo you have a hard time getting your kids to eat their vegetables?  My oldest, who loved them as a baby won’t touch them anymore.  That’s why I was excited when Country Crock contacted me about doing a Country Crock Vegetable Shopping Adventure!  I though what a great opportunity to get my daughter interested in eating vegetables.  So come along with me and let’s see if it worked.

Country Crock sent us a great kit, pictured above, which included a reusable veggie shopping list w/ Dry Erase Crayola crayons, aisle assignment cards, a few recipe cards, two shopping totes, two reusable produce bags, $25 American Express gift card for groceries, coupon for a free tub of Country Crock, cute veggie scrubber and kid friendly veggie peeler for our adventure.  I took my oldest along and left the little one behind to make this trip go a little smoother.  Before we went my daughter colored the shopping list with the dry erase crayons.  First she colored them the correct colors and we discussed all the names and colors of the vegetables on the list.  After that she had a little fun with the erasable crayons and re-colored any color she wanted.  Purple carrots anyone…

G Country CrockWell I forgot to bring my camera to the store but we went to our local Harris Teeter to grab some yummy vegetables.  My daughter loves shopping there because they have miniature shopping carts for kids that she can use to shop like Mommy.  We used the Aisle Assignment cards to make it fun and educational.  They had hints such as “Find a vegetable that is good for your eyes (hint: it’s orange).”  She had a great time finding the veggies on our list and putting them in her little cart.

My plan, of course, was to make some vegetable dishes she might actually try.  So I chose a few recipes from a page that I googled and found on About.com… Vegetable Recipes for Picky Eaters.  You can also find great recipes on the Country Crock website and Facebook page.  We chose to make the Mashed Sweet Potatoes and Carrots recipe.  Of course we substituted the butter for Country Crock which made it so that all the additional ingredients were things we already had on hand.

Country Crock RecipeThey came out great, but did my picky eater eat them?  Nope!  She tried the tiniest bite and that is it.  I guess I’ll have to make it a few more times and keep trying.

Now are you ready to try your own vegetable shopping adventure?  Country Crock has offered to give one of my readers the same kit.  So yes, we are having a giveaway!  But before I get to that let me mention that you will also find great Thanksgiving recipes and a Sweepstakes on the Country Crock Site and Facebook Page.  You’ll also find a $.40 off coupon!  So be sure to check them out after you enter the contest here.  You could win an amazing Thanksgiving prize pack including $100 in groceries!

Enter to win a Country Crock Shopping Adventure kit on the Rafflecopter form below.  Giveaway will run from November 18 – December 2.  Good Luck!
